Git Clients

What and why

A Git Client is a friendly user interface with Git. We are asking a lot of you to learn to work in this new way and a Client should make this easier than typing “code” at a prompt in a window that you may have never used before. In addition the Git Client will help you interact nicely with GitHub with clicks and pretty pictures of the version history.

Some may find the following blog interesting about command line programming (yes I mean you PhD biostats students). Command line bullshittery. My goal is to keep it to a minimum in this class.

Loading GitKraken

• Go to the GitKraken website and download. It works across all three OSes students use: Windows, Mac, and Linux. It will also lead you through set up and connecting to GitHub. I provide set by step commands at Introduce yourself to Git and Make a connection to GitHub.
